My “Go-To” Summer Look
tank | shorts | clutch | makeup | shoes As much as I would love to make ya’ll believe that I dress up seven days a week, I think ya’ll could spot a fake from a mile away. I have three small children so when I do make it out of yoga pants THIS is the outfit that I find myself wearing most. Last month, my friend, team member and owner of the Paisley Pearl, Whitney McGee, hosted a Beautycounter event at her boutique. Luckily, I was able to attend and enjoy a night out talking about safer beauty and shopping. In her boutique she has an entire clothing rack for…

Switching to Safer Beauty is Easy as One, Two, Three
About three years ago, I researched what ingredients are commonly used in makeup and became absolutely horrified! Things like parabens, fragrance, PEGs were listed my “ALL NATURAL” and “ORGANIC” products and their side affects are a mile long! It first it scared me, then it made me furious. Why would our government allow this? Then it all clicked. MONEY! If we as a nation became healthy and didn’t have health problems, it would put a lot of people out of business. This would also keep us from having to constantly make trips to the doctor for new medications for all of our medical problems. The US only bans 30 ingredients…

Why Beautycounter? Because we deserve better!
I started using Beautycounter almost three years ago when one of my friends started talking to me about the products. I’ve tried lots of “natural” and “organic” brands since changing my lifestyle and they never met my standards. Organic doesn’t always mean safe. Lead, mercury, arsenic. You can have a tube of organic lipstick, that doesn’t mean there isn’t lead in it. After downloading the “Healthy Living” app, I found out that the reason why was because those products that were labeled as safe and non toxic were the exact opposite. I encourage you to download the app for yourself, start plugging in your beauty products and see what exactly…

Step Away from the Princess Elsa Body Wash
One of the things that I dread about Christmas is the number of toxic fragrance filled body washes my children recieve as presents from their grandparents. Y’all know the ones that I am refering too, the ones with your kiddos favorite TV and movie characters on them. It makes me cringe because I know they are going to have a meltdown for them and it’s hard to explain why they can’t take a bath with their Nemo bubble bath or Frozen body wash. Trying to get my little’s to understand that kids do not need them as presents, is like talking to a brick wall and knowing that they are literally money down the drain. It makes…

Trendy Teething Necklaces
Harper’s necklace | my necklace The weekends are when I feel like I have my life together. That’s when Derrek is home, the house is clean and I have help with the kids. We always head out somewhere on a family adventure and I actually look put together for once. For those that think I try to post like I have “the perfect life” all I can do is laugh. It’s so far from the truth. Today has been a complete S-show and I swear, I’ve cried multiple times over not being able to accomplish anything. I had some super witty mumble-jumbo written for this post and I just deleted…
