The Many Benefits of CBD

DISCLAIMER: I am not a medical provider. I am sharing my first hand experience with this product. I encourage you to do your own research and also consult with your health care provider before trying anything you are not familiar with.

If you follow natural minded people or are somewhat “crunchy” yourself, you’ve probably heard about CBD (Cannabidiol) oil. A few years ago this was not the case as CBD has quickly become a health trend. It’s one that I stand behind after using for a long period of time. If you’ve been curious about it, you’re in the right place! I’m going to break down what all the hype is about. I know that the use of medical marijuana is a controversial topic but I am hoping that doesn’t deter you from learning more about CBD. CBD is a compound that’s extracted from the cannabis plant. CBD oil does contain THC, however most CBD products claim to have under 0.3% THC, and it is not psychoactive. I strongly encourage you to start researching the many benefits and differences that CBD has compared to THC.

CBD is one of over 60 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of ingredients called cannabinoids and can help with health issues. Until recently, the only compound that was receiving any attention was THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) because it’s the ingredient in cannabis that produces mind-altering effects in users. So what exactly is CBD? It is the most prevalent non-psychoactive component of Cannabis sativa. In a 2013 study of CBD published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, the benefits of CBD included results as an anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, antiemetic, anxiolytic and antipsychotic agent. It can also perform as a possible medicine for the treatment of neuroinflammation, epilepsy, oxidative injury, vomiting and nausea, anxiety and schizophrenia.

While I was pregnant with Mercy, my anxiety was at an all time high and I felt like my nerves would never get back to normal. My midwife suggested that I research a few avenues to help with anxiety, one of those being CBD oil. I went to my local health food store to see what they had available and purchased a brand that helped make a noticeable difference in my daily anxiety. Since then, I have tried a few CBD brands and I really do love this full spectrum brand made right here in South Carolina. I also love taking CBD in gummy form. The liquid isn’t my favorite way to absorb and the day and the night time gummies are always stocked in my house. In addition to helping with my anxiety, it has several additional health benefits that I have noticed an improvement in like pain, inflammation and nausea.

Do you have experience with CBD oil? Have you been on the fence to try it?
