Finding Our Happy Place

As a stay at home mom, I sometimes feel like the hours inch by during the week. This Monday was the Mondayest Monday of all Mondays. Both of the kids have the sniffles, we were out of eggs (huge ordeal because we eat them daily), Harper peed on the floor a few times (yay for potty training), and I forgot about a prenatal appointment that I had that day. Determined to not let it get me down, I added Acceptance oil to the diffusers and took the kids upstairs to play chef in Harper’s room. One of our favorite things to do is go up there and take turns “cooking” for each other. I don’t know if it’s the constant watching of Food Network during my pregnancies, love of food magazines or just general cooking, but the kids blow my mind with their imaginations when they talk about food! I get served peanut butter and egg sandwiches, cereal with pickles and wraps with onions and mayo…this always helps lift my spirits and change my attitude! Just as much as they needed a head change, so did I! Realizing this helps us all get through the day with less frustrations, which is important to me as a Mom. I really love and appreciate my time home with them and just not setting expectations of what I think I should get accomplished. I hope you take something from this post and take time to think about where you can take the kids when you feel frustrated that will help alleviate some of the tension and let everyone have fun together again!
