#takethejob Girl’s Night Out Opportunity Event
Wednesday night, I led my first Beautycounter opportunity event with the help of one of my mentors and founding member of Beautycounter, Christi Hucks, and one of my teammates, Stephinee Guerrero. This event was for Beautycounter consultants to come out and bring people that they’ve wanted on their Beautycounter teams to chat about taking the job. The job is hands down the best product that Beautycounter makes so being able to showcase that means so much to me!
That night was amazing and I am so happy that I was able to go celebrate and talk about safer beauty with so many wonderful women. When I say that Beautycounter changes your life, I mean that 100%. So many of us shared our “WHY” stories, what made us decide to advocate for safer beauty and this important mission. Then we were able to hear about everyone’s “MORE” and what joining this mission has done for each person involved. That right there is what puts all of this into perspective. Regardless if we hated our previous jobs, needed a fun hobby, needed extra money or a community of positive and empowering women…. we all have been changed by Beautycounter. I am so thankful that we were able to celebrate saying “YES” and our involvement with such a great company.
We chose to host this event at The Dispensary in downtown Florence, SC. The space is so gorgeous and couldn’t have been more perfect for our opportunity event.
Jennifer of Cotton.Canary gifted Christi and myself the stunning dresses that we wore during our event. You can check out the Cotton.Canary collection by clicking here.
I interviewed my sweet mentor, Christi Hucks, before our event last night and below you can check out her responses to my questions.
Q: What made you #takethejob?
A: I didn’t take the job right away. I was a bit of a hard sale because I had never done this before. I was honestly one of those people that said “I would never do something like this. But after seeing the difference that it made in Winn’s (my son) skin when nothing else had worked for his eczema, I knew that I had to take the job. I woke up everyday and said that if I could save one more kid, one more person, one more family, Then it’s worth it.
Q: How long have you been with Beautycounter?
A: I have been with Beautycounter since July of 2014.
Q: Now that we know your “why,” what’s your “more?”
A: I was praying for something to do. Honestly, when this came my way, I didn’t think it was the answer. I said no a few times and I said “that can’t be it.” The reason I was looking for something was because as much as I love being a stay at home mom, I still felt like I needed a sense of purpose. Something for me, something that I can still use my brain and talk to adults during the day. Winn was also going to start kindergarten and I knew hat he was going to school and both my kids would be in school full time. I knew I need something for me. Beautycounter bridged my “why” to my “more.”
Q: How do you lead such a big team and still have time for your family?
A: The key to that is really just prioritizing and having lots of time for certain things. My kids and my husband always come first. I had to realize that there were certain times of the day that I would have to just set my phone down and focus on them. I try really hard to wait until my husband is at work and my kids are at school and have my Beautycounter time and do it again after they go to bed at night. The best part about Beautycounter is being able to make my own schedule and fit it in the cracks as I like to say and Make it work with my life and my family life!
Q: If I could share one piece of safer beauty with the world what would it be?
A: In this realm, it’s like a new frontier. It’s more about progress than perfection. If people are just learning about products, my biggest advice is don’t be to hard on yourself because at one time we all didn’t know what we didn’t know but once you know, you have to do better!
Q: Why should someone join the Beautycounter mission?
A: My response is “WHY NOT?” What do you have to loose? What if this is the biggest blessing in your life and you didn’t give it a shot? Or as Wayne Gretzky likes to say “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take!”
