Life with kids is always interesting and I have found that filling our time with fun experiences cuts down on the fighting and frustration between the older two. This summer, we have had many play dates, trips, pool days, movie nights, beach vacations and many days baking sweets for a special treat.
I have never been a big baker. Having to measure all the ingredients perfectly and really follow directions isn’t my thing and has resulted in numerous botched attempts at baking. Enter Foodstirs to the rescue! This is a company that makes non GMO and Organic baking kits and mixes that are six steps or less. Ummmmm yes please! They totally get me!
We have made a few different kits from Foodstirs in the past, including this one, and last weekend, we decided to make Strawberry Lemonade Shortcakes with Vanilla and Strawberry Icing. Y’all, these were SO good and fun to make. I let the kids mix up the shortcake mix into the butter and they loved it! Getting them involved in the kitchen is something I started at a young age and I am so thankful that I did. They are VERY interested in helping me anytime I go to prep a meal or a snack.
I even let Scarlet Reese try some of mine and she was signing “more” like crazy. My sweet friend, Sarah, is making her first birthday smash cake out of the Foodstirs vanilla cake mix and I am sure she is going to be tickled pink when she gets to dig in. Sarah, made Harper’s first birthday smash cake with all organic ingredients for me so I asked her to replicate it with the vanilla cake mix from Foodstirs and she happily said yes!
Regardless of what season it is, getting your kids in the kitchen makes for fun memories. Start with something simple and ask for their help, it’s amazing how something like that makes their eyes light up and their entire demeanor change. Foodstirs has help me create a bridge where I was lacking in the baking department and myself and my kids are forever thankful!
