A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to shoot with Kristina Mosley in our home. We loved shooting with her so much during our family session that we asked her to come out and get photos of us in the midst of our day-to-day in our home. She ended up taking so many photos I split them into our morning, playroom, nursing and now, here! We’ve done a lot to make this house a home during the 3 years that we have lived here! One of the things that I am working on are the kids’ rooms. I’ve purposefully kept both of their rooms really bright and minimal until they started to decide for themselves what they want. Harper’s room has white walls, a white bed, and white bedding. The décor is where color appears; gold, light pink, and hot pink make their POPS in the perfect places. Carolina Peach Press made her gold monogram and gold polka dots. I’m just a little obsessed with her shop. We get things from there quite often! (use code: SOUTHERNLIFE10 for 10% off your purchase) We put an iron bed that I chalk painted white in her room for when we have company. Her bed is so cozy; I often nurse her there for her naps and hang out while she is asleep. I worked with a collection of small shops to make her room feel cozy, and I really love how all of the pieces flow easily together.
Nolan’s room was grey from when I created his nursery. I spent months making sure everything was just perfect in the nursery for my little one in his crib, and he never once slept in there. He and Harper have co-slept with us since they were born. We soon realized that it was more functional as a playroom and added little areas for him to play in. There’s a little reading area with his chair, his train table, his toy trucks, and his bed. I really loved the idea of a frame bed. I have seen them a lot on Pinterest, so I handed the task off to Derrek. He did a great job and Nolan loves hanging out in there. We often take blankets and put over the top of it so he can have a tent, and he reads or watches a movie with snacks! It’s a cozy retreat for him and Harper when they play in his room. He wants dinosaurs in his room now, and I was able to get Carolina Peach Press to also make the perfect black and white vinyl ones, and they are so cute! I’ve searched high and low for black and white dinosaur sheets so if you find any, please let me know! I really love how both of their rooms show of their personalities! Harper’s is sassy and girly, and Nolan’s is laid-back and all-boy just like him!
