Pineapple Juice Cough Cure

Cold and flu season has jumped back into everyone’s lives and man, it’s a force to be messed with. The kids and I have passed around all the germs over the last month and thank God it’s finally out of our bodies and our house. I really don’t think I could have taken much more. The last lingering of our colds were this deep cough that none of us could shake. We tried all the things, cough syrup, chiropractic adjustments, essential oils, honey, etc and NOTHING made it go away. After about two weeks of non stop coughing, I dug deep into research for what we could do.

I found information about how pineapples are super helpful in curing the common cough. “Due to powerful enzymes that the pineapple contains —especially the protein-digesting enzyme called bromelain — this delicious fruit is also literally medicine!” Bromelain can combat infections and eradicate the bacteria from a cold or flu. It’s also proven to be 7x more effective than cough syrup. #winning

Derrek went to the store and brought home four pineapples for us to juice. Here’s how we make our pineapple (aka stop the cough) juice.

INGREDIENTS:
2 pineapples, cut (core kept for juice)
1 lemon, peeled
1 teaspoon of ginger

4 apples, cut

RECIPE:

  1. cut all fruit up
  2. 2. add to juicer
  3. take the pulp and juice it again
  4. pour into a pitcher with 1 cup of filtered water
  5. stir and enjoy
