Non Toxic Easter Basket

I know that I surely cannot believe that it’s almost Easter! Every year during this time, I get so excited about giving the kid’s their Easter baskets. I love seeing the kid’s faces when they wake up on Easter morning and see that the Easter bunny has come to see them! Derrek and I decided that we wouldn’t do a traditional Easter basket for our children, loaded down with lots of sweets. We give them a good amount of non candy items but the little bit of candy that they do get is always Yum Earth.

It’s not mandatory to go above and beyond for Easter… it’s not Christmas or their birthday so they get things that wont break the bank and cause high expectations from the Easter bunny in the future. I’ve seen mom’s give their kids tablets, large amounts of money and even a bicycle on Easter! I think that’s a bit ridiculous and not even the reason for celebrating the holiday. Simple is definitely the way to go here! You’d be surprised how excited they get about their baskets.

This year, we are keeping it simple and giving the kids a few non candy things that are nicer quality and then a few organic candies from Yum Earth. Every year, there are a few staples in the kids Easter baskets. Among those are bathing suits, I normally buy them ones that go in their baskets because it’s this time when we start hitting up the beach. This year they are getting new suits from a store called Appaman. I am super impressed by the quality of clothing that they produce and their swim prints are just beautiful! I also scoop up a pair of flip flops to pair with their swim suits and this year I found these slides for the girls and these from Oshkosh for Nolan.

The item that I feel the kids are most excited about getting is Z Dough. This is handmade scented play dough that is non toxic and has vibrant colors. I love the idea of play dough but I don’t love the mess and the toxic ingredients that make them up. With Z Dough we skip all of that and they just get to enjoy playing. This type of present gives an opportunity to open up that creative space in their mind and helps them detach from a tablet or tv screen and use their imagination! I ended up gifting them a few Z Dough early when it was super cold and rainy and they were cooped up inside. They LOVED them! They started making snowmen and also play foods and sat down at the table for 45 minutes without fighting with each other and focused on their play dough. #winning (you can use code: TRYME10 for 10% off)

A few other things that we give the kids in their Easter baskets are non toxic nail polish for the girls, Science kits from the Target dollar sections, chalk for outside drawings, outdoor crafts in the Target dollar section, one new book and a Beautycounter mini sunscreen mist. I would love to hear what you put in your children’s baskets that are non candy. I am always on the hunt for new ideas and I would love to incorporate them.
