New Year, New Changes

Happy new year ya’ll! I cannot believe that another year has come and gone and that it’s officially 2019. This past year was filled with so many amazing ups and downs and lots of growth. Normally, I am all about making “New Years resolutions” but this year, I am trying something different. This year, I am focused on creating intentions instead. There’s something so refreshing and exciting about January and the start of a new year; a blank slate. A chance to renew our commitments to what’s working in our lives, and a chance to let go of what’s not.

I love the idea of making intentions verses resolutions because resolutions make me feel like the way I was before wasn’t good enough and that I won’t be happy in my life until until I accomplish those and completely change myself. When you are setting an intention, it’s already stated that you are “enough” and this allows you to look forward and focus on your journey. If you want to loose weigh, focus less on a number and more on caring enough about yourself to eat clean, exercise and practice self care. You have to make sure that you are living what your intentions are every day and for this reason I love to write mine down and post them on a sticky note in my bathroom.

One of my intentions for this year is to focus on what I bring into my home. We have gotten into a really bad habit of bringing TONS AND TONS of stuff into our homes. The amount of things that we consume on a daily basis is astronomical and I am excited to focus on this daily. This to me means shopping with companies who make products that are sustainable and non toxic. One of the companies I am excited to work with is called Home of Wool. Home of Wool natural mattresses & bedding are made from all natural materials and are as pure as possible. They contain none of the questionable chemicals and use materials that are natural and pure, good for your sleep, general health, well-being and most of all – safe for our children and planet. Their products are as pure as possible and should be suitable for multiple chemical sensitivity sufferers or those who have allergies.

Home of Wool created this gorgeous hand tuffed bench cushion for my window seat in my bedroom. I have always wanted one of these and they made my dreams come through. I am committed to switching out all of our matresses in our home to the Home of Wool mattresses over the next few years. I say that because it is an investment but one that I am committed to making. I know this is the best thing for my family and will reduce our non toxic load in the home and keep me from having to buy new mattresses every ten years. When you have some time, head over to the Home of Wool website and see for yourself the many benefits of switching to wool.
