Gardening Update + What I’m Learning About Canning
I don’t know how it happened but fall is right around the corner. We are 8 months into 2020 and ready to plant our winter garden. The garden that the kids and I planted earlier this spring did exceptionally well. A few things just didn’t grow like we wanted, spinach, kale and beets didn’t produce like previous years but I’m proud of what we’ve grown, is still coming up to pick and what we can start planting for fall. I suggest that anyone that can, grow some sort of garden. Even by using small planters indoors if you don’t have outdoor space, you can make it happen to grow your…

Garden Update 2020 + How You Can Grow Your Own Food
It’s been almost ten years since I started to garden with my own little family. Back Porch Update
Well, I know this blog has been a LONG time coming! Shew, we have so many updates happening that I’ve wanted to wait until it’s all completed before I show y’all but I realize that many of you can relate to not being able to “do it all” at one time. This is going to be a continuous project but we are very excited about the progress we’ve made and we look forward to making changes along the way and not letting it overwhelm us mentally or financially. We decided to makeover the back porch and make it our little safe haven then focus on our backyard since that’s the…

Look What Grew In Our Garden
I know ya’ll love a garden update and I’m SO excited to share ours with you! As you know, I shared about our raised beds back on May 5th. You can read all about that by clicking here. We have had a raised bed garden for the past 6 years and it has been a huge blessing in our lives. I grew up having a huge garden at my Dad’s farm and to be able to have a similar experience with my own children is really meaningful to me. So far, everything is growing really well! We make sure that it’s watered every day (it’s actually Nolan’s job to do…

Raised Garden Beds and Our Love for Growing Our Food
TGIF Friends! I cannot believe that the weekend is finally upon us and it couldn’t be a more beautiful day. Today, is Mrs. Winnie’s (our nanny — I promise I will share more about her soon) birthday. She loves flowers so we took a special trip to a local greenhouse in town and got all the beautiful plants to decorate with. I also stocked up on a few plants for our garden and I cannot wait to share more about it all with you! When we lived in Lake View and Nolan was around one, we planted our first garden. I remember wanting to do better for our family in…
