The BEST Non-Toxic Purple Shampoo

This post is in partner with Kavella. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Please read my disclaimer page for more information.

It is no secret that I like to keep my hair as blonde as possible! Because of that, I spend a pretty penny at the salon to achieve this look every couple of months. Right now, my hair is probably the blondest it’s ever been and I try to keep it as icy as I can between trips to the salon. If you color your hair, you know the struggle is real when it comes to keeping it looking fresh! For the last 8 years I have been spending tons of money on non-toxic hair coloring only for it to get brassy the second I washed it with with normal shampoo.

There are a lot of reasons why blonde hair is hard to maintain. Chemicals in our water and shampoos can strip the color right out if you aren’t careful. We have hard water where we live, so my hair will turn green if I don’t use our shower filters and the proper shampoo! If you spend money at the salon, you know that this can be your worst nightmare! I have mentioned on my blog several times that I suffer from psoriasis and have to be very careful about the products I use on my hair and body. Kavella Purple Shampoo is honestly the BEST shampoo I have found and it keeps my plantinum blonde hair looking amazing between salon trips!

When using Kavella, I put a quarter size amount in my palm and then massage it into my scalp and hair. I always let it sit for 2-3 minutes before rinsing to get the full effect of the product. Kavella is very concentrated so a little bit of this shampoo goes a LONG way. Once, I’ve rinsed, it’s like magic! All the brassy color is gone and my hair is bright platinum again!

Ingredient-wise, I’ve been very impressed with this shampoo. I have terrible psoriasis so I have to be very careful with the hair products I choose or my scalp will burn.

Key Ingredient Information:

FREE OF Free of Sulfates, Silicones and Sodium Chloride!

  • Organic Aloe Vera Extract: As with most of our products, Aloe is the first ingredient in this product. It contains enzymes which repairs dead skin cells on the scalp. Aloe vera has a chemical make-up similar to that of keratin, rejuvenating the hair, giving it more elasticity and preventing breakage.
  • Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters: Naturally increased dye uptake and promotes color retention. Assists with hydration and detangling. Silicone alternative.
  • Hydrolyzed Jojoba Protein: Effective plant-based protein for repairing and conditioning damaged hair. Helps hair retain moisture and adds shine.
  • Sucrose Cocoate: Natural, PEG-free moisturizer derived from coconuts. Helps to make shampoo foam denser so that targeted application is easier (such as when roots need to be toned longer than ends). Simply add more water and lather further to disperse shampoo throughout hair.

I have partnered with Kavella this month to get a discount code for my followers! Use code: SOUTHERN10 for 10% off! Please give it a shot and let me know how much you love it!

Amanda…Love your hair. Are you willing to share the coloring your hairstylist uses (brand and color name) to get this look? As a Fellow Beautycounter consultant here with very similar skin tone as you and same color eyes and eyebrows I feel this color I could hold. I currently have very dark brown which Ive had for years…but I am going gray quickly and the gray pops through now as soon as 2-3weeks after I’ve colored my hair. So the Gray to Dark Brown contrast stands out big time. I am starting slowly with going to a light brown color and then hope for a Platinum Blonde like yours….it is Lovely!
    Thank you,
    Heather

Just wanted to second this comment. I am also interested in hearing about the brand and color name. I have the same situation with dark brown and grays as you, Heather. I am new to the town I live in and tried out a stylist to start the process to blonde. She did okay, but it wasn’t my best salon experience so I am going to look around for a better stylist. Meanwhile, I would definitely be interested in knowing more about the platinum blonde. Thank you!

Your licensed stylist has to be the one to purchase your hair color. There are so many available on the market and it’s up to their distression which they use. I used: natulique.
