AirDoctor Pro Helping Detoxify Our Home

This post is in partner with AIRDOCTOR, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Please read my disclaimer page for more information.

I, like everyone else, loved walking past Bath and Body Works in the mall and catching a whiff of the new scents for winter. Sadly, I found out a few years ago what dangers are actually lurking in their ingredients, so we do not use them. When I started becoming more aware of what I was exposing my family to, I discovered that when you burn a candle, it causes indoor air pollution. Before this point, I never once thought about indoor air pollution.

Paraffin is the major ingredient in most conventional candles, and is a sludge waste product from the petroleum industry. It releases carcinogenic chemicals when burned. The soot/fumes are similar to that released from a diesel engine and can be as dangerous as second-hand cigarette smoke. This can contribute to serious respiratory issues like asthma. Two particularly toxic chemicals, benzene and toluene, are found in the sooty residue from burning candles. Benzene is cancer-causing, and toluene affects the central nervous system. I remind myself of these things every time I think “it smells great, and it’s just a candle,” and I always end up putting it back on the shelf. It’s absolutely not worth the risks. The use of candles, air fresheners and wall plug ins opened my eyes to all the ways indoor air pollution happens and allowed me to focus one by one on cleaning up our act.

The first thing that I did to reduce the indoor air pollution in our home was throw out all those yuck candles, air fresheners and wall plug ins and buy essential oil diffusers to diffuse oils in. In addition to that, we have always been big fans of using house plants to purify the air in our home. House plants have a ton of benefits and are an awesome way to clean up your airspace and add decoration as well. We also have salt lamps and humidifers in every room to detox as well. While plants, salt lamps, and oils are amazing for these things, it doesn’t hurt to have a faster and more high-powered option for purifying the air in your home.

We have been using the AIRDOCTOR Pro air purifier in our home in recent months and have fallen in love with it! During the winter months, it’s not just as simple as opening a window to let some fresh air in… it’s simply too cold! Plus, we have a newborn baby so it’s just not an option. The AIRDOCTOR has done an amazing job of freshening our air and keeping us healthy throughout this winter.

Did you know?

Every day we breathe 15,000 liters of air and the toxins pass through our lungs and are circulated to the heart, liver, kidneys, brain and other organs. According to the World Health Organization long-term exposure to ambient particulate matter (PM) concentrations leads to a marked reduction in life expectancy. The reduction in life expectancy is primarily due to increased cardio-pulmonary and lung cancer mortality. Increases are likely in lower respiratory symptoms and reduced lung function in children, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and reduced lung function in adults. These are all reasons why an air purifier can literally be a lifesaver. The AIRDOCTOR Pro will clean your air and rid your home of toxins and pollutants that cause all of these serious health issues.

What causes indoor pollution?

Indoor air pollution is caused by a combination of particles like pollen, dust, pet dander, mold spores and smoke combined with ozone, invisible gases and volatile organic compounds which are emitted by building materials, furniture, carpeting, paint, cleaning and personal care products. While we always strive to only use organic and non-toxic products in our home, there is no doubt in my mind that pollutants have a chance to get in through our clothing, air vents, mattresses, pets, etc. Nobody is 100% safe from these toxins which is why the AirDoctor Pro is crucial to maintaining a healthy air quality in our home.
