Taking Your Health Into Your Own Hands

I often get asked HOW to start transitioning to a healthier lifestyle and my answer is simple. CHOOSE to start and focus on one area to change first. If you decide you want to live healthier and non toxic and think about changing everything at once, it’s going to overwhelm you and chances are, you wont start. You’ll just keep putting it off and putting it off verses just starting somewhere. I chose to clean up my food first. This meant not eating at drive through restaurants, drinking only water and lots of it and keeping away from processed foods. When grocery shopping, I would stick to organic meats and fresh (organic) produce. If you stay clear of the middle isles at the grocery store, you could change your diet in a BIG way. I focused on learning that I wasn’t on a “diet” but a quest for a healthier daily food intake. I don’t count calories. I just found it to stressful! When I wanted to cut out “flab,” I didn’t skip meals (that makes your metabolism slow down) but I replaced the meals with protein smoothies. A basic daily meal schedule for me would be: a smoothie for breakfast, crunchy snack in between meals, smoothie for lunch, crunchy snack in between meals, and a dinner with a protein and fresh veggies.

Now, if you’re wanting to change a different part of your lifestyle first, you could focus on your cleaning products, beauty products or exercise. Do whatever YOU want to change first. This is YOUR life and changing things needs to come from your own desire to do so. The only advice I can offer you to changing is to focus on one thing at a time and do your research. If you have never changed your diet, then start looking up what you need to do. If you want to exercise, start looking up different workouts you want to do or go join a gym! If you want to change your cleaning products or beauty products, start typing the products you have into www.ewg.org/skindeep and seeing what’s rated highest for chemicals, throw those out and replace them as you can financially.

Decide that your life is worth the change and go for it! Don’t let anything stand in your way of being the happiest, healthiest version of you. You will never regret changing for the better, you’ll only regret putting it off again and again.
