Happy Thursday y’all! This week has been complete crazy town – but I feel like I say this every week so I guess it’s just life at this point. Ha! I am so excited that the weekend is almost here. College football will be on and that makes me feel happy about fall. Even though, I swear, it’s still 100 degrees here! There will be no sweaters pulled out or boots just yet! It’s been a while since I’ve had a Q and A blog and I figured, what better time than now. I’m working really hard on blogging 4-5 times a week and so far so good! I am glad ya’ll are loving it. Please feel free to share any blog topics ya’ll want me to cover.
Q: Do you plan on having more kids?
A: Ya’ll! I JUST HAD A BABY, hahaha! Give me some time. But for real, I think we are good. We are enjoying little Mercy babe and our other three. That’s plenty for right now. I don’t know what the future holds but we enjoy our larg(er) family. We’ve always wanted one and it works for us. I have no clue what 3 years down the road looks like but for now, we are good with our four littles.
Q: You had on a super adorable bralette the other day and I lost the link. Would you be able to share?
A: Of course! It’s from Solace Boutique! I am obsessed with their store and this bralette especially. I cannot wait to get it in a few other colors and rotate them during fall. I love wearing the white one I have under my maxi dresses and slouchy tops. It’s so girly and makes me feel like a little fashion blogger, haha!
Q: Any suggestions for a non sweat, everyday cup that can go in the dishwasher?
A: My entire family uses and loves Healthy Human tumblers. I’ve thrown out all of the plastic cups we had and we only use these now. They come in different colors, patterns and sizes. You can get them off of Amazon and have them arrive in two business days. They even make ones that the kids can take with them to school! Use code: LSWIFE10 for 10% off of your purchase!
Q: Diaper products for Miss Mercy?
A: We have tried so many diaper brands through out the years but have finally found ones we love! You can read more about it here.
Q: Can I have your recipe for the pumpkin bread?
A: yes you can! Please just share how you like it after you make it! Click here for the recipe.
Q: How do you go about laundry?
A: ha… the struggle is real. I legit have to do 2 loads a day to stay caught up. I’ve got a laundry post coming at you in the next few days so stay tuned! I’m sharing all of my favorite non toxic laundry products as well.
Q: How do you fit in hubby and me time with four kids? Date nights? QT?
A: This can be tough, I think the best way is to plan it. Derrek and I try to squeeze in a date night once a week. That is made possible by a babysitter, my sister or our friend Stephinee offering to keep the kids. Last night, Stephinee was nice enough to keep them while we got a pedicure and Starbucks. This weekend, my sister is keeping them while we go to dinner with some friends. For our QT, we always get the kids to sleep before 9 – that’s a work in progress, we want to get them to sleep earlier and are planning on getting that in motion during Daylight Savings Time. Then we watch Netflix, do a bible devotional or play cards.
Q: Did you use essential oils right away when baby was born?
A: I did. I diffuse oils in the house daily and I just have a diffuser in every room. I always keep the oil drops to 3 or less and keep the baby on the opposite end of the room. The only oils I’ve applied directly to her (diluted with coconut oil) has been Gentle Baby blend or Lavender. She hasn’t needed anything else.
Q: Do you extend rear face your kiddos?
A: I rear face them until they turn two or a little bit older. We turned Scarlet Reese around a few weeks after she turned two. I know the benefits of keeping them rear facing for longer but it’s just what we have chosen to do with each of them. You can read more about the benefits from rear facing and what carseats we love by clicking here.
Q: Favorite organic cereal? All the Round up has me confused!
A: We have actually backed off of buying cereal since this information came out. I am also confused as to what brands we should let them eat. The only one that I currently feel comfortable with is Love Grown but is is more expensive than others. We’ve also been enjoying making our own granola and the kids and I eat that with almond or coconut milk.
Q: What would you recommend if you are trying to detox toxins from your body?
A: This can get deep. To keep it short…. a juice cleanse, switching to organic meats, dairy and produce, eliciting dairy if possible, switching to safer cleaning and beauty products!
Q: What type of coffee do you drink?
A: I haven’t made coffee in quite some time but when I do, here is how I make it. I’ve really grown to enjoy Lavender coffee from a local coffee shop here called Lula’s. I am sure you can buy lavender syrup and make your own, I just haven’t done that yet.
Q: What did you end up doing for Nolan’s teeth?
A: It still makes me sad talking about it. With everything that happened in his previous school with hard candy, he had to have his two back teeth extracted. His surgery had to be done at a local hospital because he was put to sleep. I would say the entire process lasted a few hours. We were home and he was only able to eat soft foods for a few days. But, that was that!
Q: What are your fitness plans to ease back into exercise post-baby?
A: I recently started going back to my gym this week! Monday was my first day back in full swing. I attend fitness classes that last an hour. Those are Monday-Friday. I LOVE THEM! They are free weights and kettle bell focused. Once it gets a little cooler, I plan on going for walks every morning with Scarlet Reese, Mercy and whatever friends that want to join!
Q: What teething necklace brand do you recommend?
A: I love the brand Baltic Mermaid! She makes the most beautiful necklaces and bracelets. I recently got a few new ones for Mercy and Scarlet Reese. I’ll be sharing more in depth about them soon. You can use code: LITTLESOUTH for 15% off.
Q: With your husband being a chiropractor, how often does he adjust your kids?
A: I asked him for a “formal response” for ya’ll and here it is: I check our kids every week, although they may not need an adjustment. I normally adjust them once every two weeks to keep them in proper alignment and keep their immune systems at 100%. If they have a cold, running a fever, are extra whiny, or haven’t gone number two in a few days, I will adjust them more frequently until those symptoms dissipate.
Q: How is the puppy with baby?
A: We actually do not have our golden doodle puppy anymore. He was not something we should have added into the mix when we did. He honestly was so sweet but required WAY more attention than I could give at the time. We found him a loving home with an older couple who lost their dog the year before. They update us on him and he is loving life with his new family!
Q: Do you still take CBD oil?
A: Yes I do. I should probably take it more frequently than I do. My anxiety and stress levels are through the roof so I know it would help!
Q: I am getting a pedicure right now and thinking about nail polish. What is your favorite brand?
A: I love the Zoya brand. I buy it off their website. I use it for myself and the girls. I even take it with me to the spa when I get a pedicure or manicure. I would strongly suggest buying the manicure kit when you do invest. It keeps my nails looking brand new for a week or so!
