Ahhhh the post y’all have been begging me for! I finally got the chance to photograph Nolan’s room while it was clean, haha. Seriously, everytime I went to take pictures it was a complete disaster and after cleaning it I wasn’t in the mood to photograph. Nolan actually helped me clean it up because he wanted to photograph it. I’ve been letting him help me print off pictures so we can make family photo albums and he asked for pictures of his room so he could put them in a album. Bless it!
When I was pregnant with Nolan I spent a lot of time decorating this room as a nursery but he never slept in his crib or spent much time in his room. It wasn’t functional and I decided to take out the crib and just keep his toys in there so he could have his own space. He really started playing in there about a year ago and has been begging for a “big boy” room.
Nolan is obsessed with Batman and told me that he wanted lots of Batman things in his room. I let him browse on Pinterest and pick out the things he liked and started designing everything in my head.
My mother is actually the one who found his bedframe. She is the best antique shopper and can find the best pieces of furniture at little hole in the wall stores. His bedframe was only $35. It wasn’t painted but I just spray painted it and it only took one coat and less than 35 minutes. His mattress is from Naturepedic. We all have Naturepedic mattresses. They are an investment but SO worth it. You can read about it over on THIS blog post. His bedding is from Beddy’s and is really cool because it’s like a sleeping bag (has zippers down both sides) and it’s easy for him to make himself! He is very independent so he loves being able to do that by himself. We added a watercolor design pillow from Fin First and a black blanket from Home Goods to complete it.
Other items that have made his bedroom the cozy little space it is, are:
-the Batman wall decals from Carolina Peach Press. I have decals from CPP in the girls room as well. We love the special look they create and how easy they are to put on the walls.
-the paper toy bags from Hello Henry. They make the cutest paper toy bags and they are perfect for hiding the clutter that accumulates from toys and books in kids rooms. His toy bags were made custom and he LOVES them.
-the felt ball garland strand on his gallery wall from Sausage and Missus. I love the different greys and black felt balls put together. And the fact that it came put together was a huge accomplishment. I love these and have a few different color garlands throughout our home.
-the black and white washable rug from Lorena Canals. It’s washable. That should be enough for anyone to want it, am I right? This rug is fabulous and I knew it would fit perfectly in his little space. We have a few of these rugs in our house and they are each so beautiful in their own way. Being able to wash them only makes me love them more.
His room has become one of my favorite rooms in our house. Everyone always ends up hanging out in there and playing on his massive Lego table. I am excited to continue to decorate as time goes by. My next quest is for different handles for his dresser drawers. His dresser was a present from my Mother at my baby shower! I love this solid wood anique. Does anyone have any ideas about handles I could put on it to make it really POP?
