I am an avid lover of all things healthy and holistic. This is somewhat of a problem when I venture into the world of health products. I have spent way too many trips to all-natural stores staring blankly at the shelves wondering if the product I end up picking is actually going to work. When I found Shop Conscious Beauty’s Instagram, they visually reeled me in. The way they styled their photos had a lot to do with my interest deepening. They promote their products as ones that “provide exceptional performance and promote health-conscience living: organic, natural and sustainable….”
I started chatting with the co-owner, Merlyn, and after telling her a few problems I was dealing with, she lead me to products that she felt would be helpful for me. I really love companies that will help you figure out what products will work best for your needs. Some of the scariest purchases are those that you are unsure about working for you. My package came the day before we left for California, so I packed my new products and tried them out while we were on vacation.
I have been on the hunt for a good body wash that would not dry my skin out and was gentle enough to wash the babies in as they sometimes interrupt my bathtime. Who am I kidding? The bathe with me every day. After downloading the Skin Deep App, I was absolutely horrified about the toxic ingredients that fill regular “health” products. I’ve tried to find good body washes for the past few years, but I have not had the best luck, so I normally use the kids’ baby wash.
My favorite product from Shop Conscious Beauty is the travel size foam bath wash from Zoe Organics. It worked perfectly for taking on our trip because I did not have to buy those plastic containers to pour my travel products into. I used one pump and lathered it into my washcloth, and it gave me enough suds to wash my entire body. I normally steer away from foam washes because you have to use so much to wash, but the Zoe Organics bath wash proved to be better than the average product. “Oatmeal and lavender provide natural cleansing and together with chamomile flowers and calendula, they reduce redness and skin irritation.”
Gentle ingredients make this perfect for people who get irritated skin from using regular body washes. The ingredients of the body wash are also good for your littles. If they get a diaper rash or skin rash, you can let them soak in a tub of warm soapy water for 20 minutes at a time. Normally, body washes dry my skin out even more than the harsh winter does, but this body wash actually restored some of the moisture I normally lack.
The next product I had to test out was the Botanical Me Apricot Beauty Oil. This product stood out to me because it is an essential oil combo that every woman should have, and it has many different uses. I love products that are multifunctional, and this one is just that! It is filled with antioxidants, omega fatty acids, vitamins and argan oil that work together to moisturize and revitalize a dull complexion.
Jewelry making takes its toll on my poor hands, and they are dry and callused. I apply this oil to my hands in the morning and at night, and it has made them look like they are full of new life! When I get out of the shower, I take a few drops and rub into the ends of my hair for a fresh scent and extra moisture. My hair tends to be extremely knotty, and I need all the extra help I can get before I try and brush it out.
On our trip, I wore my new Jack Rogers to go sight-seeing. After I read that sentence to myself it seems even dumber than before. My feet were abused in the worst way, and I had to do damage control. After I took a shower, I rubbed them down with the Beauty Oil and relaxed for a few minutes. After doing this process a few times, my feet started to forgive me and I was able to walk around again without being in so much pain.
I plan on trying new products from Shop Conscious Beauty throughout the year as my beauty needs change. My next purchases are the non-toxic, eco-friendly nail polishes by Scotch Naturals.
Even though I love getting gel nails, I know that they are harmful to my nails and so are regular nail polishes. My favorite colors from Scotch Naturals are a grey (who would have thought) ‘Smokey Martini’, merlot red ‘Bitter N’ Twisted and a gorgeous coral color called ‘Canal St. Daisy.’ Derrek knows what I want in my Easter basket this year! HINT HINT!
