Go-go Juice

Can y’all believe the weekend is almost here?! We are very ready for a little break from our work week, but with a few more days left, I’ve been relying on juicing veggies and fruits to give me extra bursts of energy! I have never been much of a coffee drinker, so when I was introduced to juicing about three years ago, it became my “coffee.” I love all of the benefits that come out of juicing fresh vegetables and fruits. I make sure that we do it once a day when we’re at home so we can all get some extra nutrients! Juicing separates the juice from the fiber and gives you more vegetables per serving which helps you absorb them faster and get quick bursts of energy. Juicing fruits and vegetables helps reduce cravings for junk foods!

To begin juicing, you need a juicer. I bought a GE version from Wal-Mart. I really don’t have a particular “brand” of juicers I like more than others. I put a plastic bag in the big bin so it’s easier clean up! I do have a few tips I’ve learned that I want to share with y’all about juicing:
-wash and roughly chop the produce you use before you turn the juicer on so you can do it quickly
-squeeze fresh lemon juice on top of your fresh juice to help neutralize the pH levels
-use produce with high water content like cucumber, celery, carrots
-use combo: (1) leafy greens + (1) juicy base + (1-2) fruit or sweet veggies

Here are a few of my favorite juice combos right now:

Metabolism booster-
•2 green apples
•1 cucumber
•1 beetroot
•1/4 lemon
•1/2 inch of ginger

Glow juice-
•5 carrots
•2 green apples
•2 oranges

Go-go Green juice-
•3 cucumbers
•2 pieces celery
•handful of kale
•2 pears
•1 lemon

If I have extra, I always store it in air-tight mason jars, and I try and fill it to the top so it doesn’t allow for as much oxidation. Pinterest is filled with tons of good juice recipes depending on your likes. I hope you try it and add it into your routine. It’s delicious, healthy, and your body will thank you later!
